Corps Iwo Jima
What is the value of an authentic map of Iwo Jima, WWII pre-invasion?
I don’t want to sell it, but I do want to know if I should shell out the $300 to have it properly framed. If anyone knows what this might be worth for insurance purposes and my own curiosity, please let me know. My grandfather was (as I recall) a Warrant Officer with the Corps of Engineers, something having to do with distributing supplies and such. He was issued this map in preparation for occupying the island after it was taken.
It is 100% authentic and in quite good shape. Would be happy to talk with a bonafide expert about it in more detail.

The value of something depends on the market…..and it is constantly changing
FIRST…..go to a book store…..go to the collectible books section…..pick out Mallory’s Registry…… look up maps…..there will be listed all the collectors…..auction houses…..museums etc……that work with maps….. copy down the addresses / email / telephone numbers…… then start contacting the experts
Condition is important……be sure to tell the person everything…..maybe even take some photos…..
You might also get advice on the proper way to handle, display and care for it….. early paper items can take special care….. oil from your hands…..pin holes…..tape……all kinds of things , including exposure to air , can deminish its condition / value
